Aviators Sunglasses – Why Are They So Popular?

Aviators sunglasses were originally designed in the ’30s for US Air Force pilots but seem to have re-emerged of late as a popular fashion accessory for men and women alike.

Frequently seen in the movies, worn by celebrities, pilots, US police and Army personnel, aviators sunglasses remain very popular. With many different designer brands now producing their own styles, their trademark wireframes can now be found with several different types and colour of the lens.

Possibly the most popular type of aviators sunglasses must be the silver mirrored lenses as worn by the US police and seen in the cult TV series C.H.I.P’s and classic 80’s films like Top Gun.

Aviators appear to give an element of mystery, intrigue and danger, and it is such properties that have made them a strong fashion choice today.
